Maire's yoga style has been described as "a warm hug," as well as a "cozy cup of tea." At first, yoga was a way for her to nurture herself and relieve stress during her busy schedule as a classical singer. She found that yoga enhanced her breathing, balance, and strength. Now, yoga is her spiritual grounding. Her classes are based on Patanjali's yoga sutra which speaks of steadiness and ease. She believes in yoga as working the insides out. Maire's classes include chant, pranayama (breathing techniques), yoga asana (poses), as well as a luxury savasana (resting pose) and meditation.
Maire received her yoga teaching certification from Devanadi School of Yoga and Wellness in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This program focuses on Hatha and Classical styles of yoga as well as Ayurvedic health, ParaYoga, Vinyassa Flow, Ashtanga, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Acroyoga, Pranayama, Meditation, and Vinyassa Krama. Maire spent the last 3 years in Boston where her yoga home was at Akasha Studio in Roslindale, MA. She also taught "Yoga For Musicians" at the New England Conservatory of Music.
Recently, she moved to the Midwest. Since Covid-19, she began teaching donation-based yoga classes on Zoom every Monday and Friday at 8:30am central time.
